Synopsis:
Listen to the cool sounds of Frank Portolese’s jazz guitar performing in the Solo Jazz Guitar format, a personal style developed over a lifetime. A review of Frank’s CD, Last Call, on the Jazz Institute of Chicago’s website opines, “Chicago is blessed with several magnificent jazz guitarists and Frank Portolese has been a leader of this six-string fraternity for over 20 years.”
Biographical Information on Mr. Portolese:
Jazz Guitarist Frank Portolese has been active in the Chicago area as a performer and teacher for over 20 years. His Jazz performance credits include Joe Pass, Sammy Davis Jr., Eddie Harris, Les McCann, David Baker, Shelley Manne, Ira Sullivan, Claude “Fiddler” Williams, Bobby Shew and many others. His pop music experience ranges from Sammy Davis, Jr. to Clay Aiken. Frank’s CD’s, Transparent and Last Call are on the Southport label. Frank founded the Jazz Program for Midwest Young Artists, a Youth Music Organization located at Fort Sheridan, and his MYA Senior Jazz Combo participated in the 1998 and 2001 Aberdeen (Scotland) International Youth Festivals to rave reviews.
